Bill Analysis: Tax Lien Lending Benefits Property Owners and Consumers


In an analysis of Senate Bill 525 of the 84th Texas Legislative session, Bill Peacock, Vice President of Research and Director of the Center for Economic Freedom, explains why tax lien transfers must remain an option for Texas property owners. Ultimately, Senate Bill 525 did not pass into law. Tax lien transfers remain a choice which provides a "market-based, consumer-friendly way for Texas taxpayers overwhelmed by high property taxes to pay their taxes and avoid the costly fees and penalties associated with delinquent taxes and the collection process."
